EdTech

All students in TK to 8th grade have EdTech twice a week. We have Chromebooks and iPads that our students use during EdTech. The curriculum is designed using the International Technology Society in Education (ITSE) Standards and the California K-12 Computer Science Standards as a guideline to prepare our students and build a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.

Our students learn digital citizenship and foundational computer skills. It is important that in this digital age, we educate our students to use technology wisely and effectively.

Student learn Word Processing skills while learning the basics of Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets.

SHPS students learn the basics of Coding. We believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity.

Our EdTech teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers to create projects that support the classroom curriculum.

Throughout the school year, one of our basic goals is to improve keyboarding skills to prepare students to communicate their knowledge digitally, for a variety of projects in the classroom (research, essays, etc.) Through projects, coding, and games, students will gradually improve this basic skill.

Using technology, we have published books, created Movies, explored Claymation, conducted research and so much more. We take pride in helping our students learn a variety of skills while using technology. Our goal is to build responsible Digital Citizens who use technology effectively and appropriately.
