Infractions

This page explains the guidelines for behavior and homework in fifth grade as well as the consequences.   All infractions will be noted in class.  On the third infraction a form will be sent home to make you aware.  I truly feel these guidelines will help make this academic year run as smoothly as possible.

Behavior/Conduct:
All Sacred Heart fifth graders are expected to act appropriately while at school.  The following rules are general and will apply in the classroom as well as on the campus.
          1.      Remain focused during all classes. (Ex: no silly behavior or class
                   interruptions.)
          2.      Respect ALL teachers and ALL classmates
          3.      Keep hands and feet to yourself by respecting space and property of
                  classmates.
          4.      Respect Sacred Heart's property. (Ex: textbooks, PE equipment.)
          5.      Walk throughout campus appropriately. (Ex: straight lines; walk
quietly so no other classrooms are disrupted.)
          6.      Act appropriately during lunch time. (Ex: table manners.)

Infractions:           Consequence:
Three (3)            First note home to parents
Six (6)                 Second note home to parents  regarding detention after school:  30 minutes

Due to the severity of certain behavior issues, the following situations will be reported to the principal and result in an automatic one hour detention.
          1.      Any "bullying" incident
          2.      Insubordination to any teacher
          3.      Fighting
          4.      Cheating on a test.  This will also result in a 0 on the test.  If cheating   occurs more than once, it could result in the suspension or expulsion of the student.

Homework

All homework assignments will be completed each night.  Any missing or partially completed assignment will result in an infraction.  Please talk to me before school if you have any questions or do not understand a concept from your homework.  DO NOT wait until we begin correcting the homework assignment in class!

Knowledge of students losing points will be indicated on the infraction form which will be sent home to be signed by a parent.  This communication will avoid any surprise if a grade may be lower than expected.  If missing homework becomes a consistent problem, the situation will then become an administrative issue.

Infractions:           Consequence:
Three (3)              First note home to parents
Six (6)                   Second note home to parents regarding detention after school: 30 minutes

I have discussed these guidelines with my child and will assist in reviewing them throughout the year.
